Last week the Irish Design Crafts Council chose to launch their #MADELOCAL campaign at our store with Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and actor and writer Amy Huberman. This great initiative is part of a renewed focus on the importance of supporting Irish makers and retailers to keep craftspeople in business during these tricky times. The Made Local campaign will run until the end of summer with over 100 shops participating in supporting the work of DCCI’s 3,000 makers in Ireland.
Amy spoke about the campaign to RTE "Following a very difficult few months due to Covid-19, it is important to make a conscious effort to help local craft businesses in Ireland. Our country is full of some of the most talented designers and craftspeople in the world and we are so lucky to have such beautiful produce right here on this island. We would like to encourage consumers to think before they shop and give our local makers a chance to thrive over the coming months,". You can read more here.
Look out for DCCI Made Local symbols around the city to find your Irish makers and pop into us in the Westbury Mall just off Grafton Street. Sonia got to chat to The Irish Times in a camera interview about our story and the work of Irish makers, check it out here.
