As we’re sure you all know by now, we at STABLE love our linen. One of the features we’re particularly charmed by is the (not exactly attractively-named) slub. A slub is a small bump; an extra glut of tightly intertwined fibres that forms during the spinning process and appears randomly along the linen thread. A hundred years ago the lowly slub was deemed an imperfection or a sign of poor quality. These days our slubs are cherished, which you can find dotted all over our linen. Look closely: each piece of material has its own unique constellation. We like to think of slubs as freckles, personalising and enhancing the appearance of every one of our Irish linen napkins, blankets, towels and scarves.
Since 1991 Sophie has worked happily as a filmmaker and cinematographer specialising in natural history in remote locations throughout the world from 78 degrees South to 78 degrees North with a lot of Africa in between.
Easter is such a lovely time. It’s the combination of longer days after the winter, the ground warming, trees budding, birds stirring and most of all, the light. There’s a buzz in the air and a bounce in people’s step.
We are such a fan of our shop playlist that we thought we should share it with all of you, especially for those of you that can't be with us in person yet, so you can still tune in despite not being in the store.
