We are delighted to be launching our brand new 'Willow Basket’ handwoven from a selection of willows picked by our maker and friend Pauline Hogan. Pauline was trained in her craft of willow weaving by expert basketmaker, Joe Hogan, who has been making baskets since 1978 and whose work was commissioned and featured in Loewe’s S/S19 fashion show.

Our open weave basket, made exclusively for STABLE by Pauline is made with Harrisons and Brittany Blue willow from the midlands and inspired by old Irish donkey creels. Traditionally, Irish donkey creels were large woven baskets carried by donkeys to bring turf in from the bog or goods to the local markets. Often seen in rural Ireland, this form of transportation has now been reinterpreted to highlight our respected heritage and reinvented for modern use.

Our new ‘Willow’ shopper is the perfect example of working willow into something you will use every day, featuring basket straps made from saddlery leather and fastened with brass. These distinctly Irish pieces are a beauty to hold, rare and precious.
